Da Nang recently took the top spot in travel site TripAdvisor’s “Destinations on the Rise” awards.  At a press conference on Monday, the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced Da Nang’s plans to make the city into the world’s most attractive new destination next year.

Apart from implementing more tourism promotion programmes, a focus will be on attracting more visitors from domestic tourist markets such as Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Hai Phong, the provinces of Hai Duong and Ninh Binh, and other localities in the Northern Delta.  In addition, there will be further promotion in Da Nang’s key international markets such as ASEAN, Northeast Asia, and Europe.

Also in 2015, importance will be attached to effectively implementing the city’s strategies for improving the professional skills of those involved in the local tourism sector.  The city’s branch of the Viet Nam Tourism Association will make every effort to ensure that between 60% and 65% of the local tourism sector’s employees will have accessed training courses by the end of next year.   Special attention will be paid to providing sufficient qualified tour guides for visitors from Russia, Japan, South Korea, Thailand and other countries.

In addition, stronger measures will be taken to eliminate the harassment of tourists at some local attractions and ensure a safe and friendly tourism environment.  This is intended to make Da Nang a leading example for the country’s tourism sector, as well as an ideal destination for visitors from home and abroad.
