Passenger transport costs remain unchanged despite sharp drop in fuel prices
Since the start of this year, petrol and diesel prices have decreased on 7 separate occasions. The price of a litre of petrol has reduced by 5,586 VND in total, whilst diesel 0.05S has dropped by 3,390 VND. However, the prices of passenger transportation have remained unchanged since the start of the year.
Recently, the Vietnamese Ministry of Finance has urged the Ministry of Transport to demand that passenger transport providers lower their fares to match the significant decrease in domestic petrol and diesel prices. However, passenger transport providers in Da Nang, and in other localities nationwide, have yet to reduce their service prices.

However, whilst taxi fares and the prices of passenger transportation on fixed routes have remained unchanged, the prices charged for goods transport have declined by between 5 and 10% based on the volume of transported goods and the total travelled distance.
According to the Da Nang Cargo Transport Association, over recent years the association has encouraged its members to sign framework contracts with their customers. In particular, the contracts feature additional annexes in which local cargo transport providers pledge to timely adjust their charges in accordance with any price changes in the domestic fuel market.
