According to Da Nang’s travel agencies, the number of tourist arrivals to the city for National Day (2 September) is likely to increase by only 10% because employees nationwide have only one day off work for this year’s holiday and it falls in midweek.

The Deputy General Director of the Da Nang-based Viet Nam Tourism Joint Stock Co (Vitours), Mr Le Tan Thanh Tung, said that there are only a small number of domestic bookers for foreign tours.  He added, however, that the city would see a significant increase in the number of foreign visitors, especially those from European countries who no longer need a visa when entering Viet Nam.  These countries are the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy, and tourists from here are likely to visit Da Nang before travelling to Hue and Hoi An.

Despite the short one-day holiday break, various large-scale events will be held in the city to attract visitors.  They will include a traditional boat race, a water-skiing show, and musical performances.

There will be a firework performance which will be set off on 3 9mx30m barges floating on the Han River in front of the former Han River Port.  The 15-minute-long display with around 3,000 different-sized firework tubes will start at 9.00pm on Wednesday, 2 September.  The display on the barges aims to ensure the safety of spectators and will provide a better view for them.  It is also a trial for the Da Nang International Fireworks Competition 2017.
