Currently, Da Nang’s tourism sector is focussing on implementing more tourism promotion programmes in those foreign tourist markets which have direct flights to the city, such as South Korea, Japan, Singapore, and Malaysia.  The intention is to increase the number of international visitors arriving in the city for vacations over the winter.

Importance is also being attached to promoting numerous tourism activities in Japan to access new tourism markets, and organising famtrips to the city for representatives from travel and press agencies from Japan, South Korea, Russia, and Australia.

In addition, heed is being paid to advertising the city’s tourism image through various tourism promotion programmes which are being jointly organised by the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The Chairman of the municipal Travel Association, Mr Huynh Tan Vinh, recently stressed the need for the city to develop new tourist markets in addition to its current traditional markets of China, South Korea, Japan, North American and Western Europe countries.  This will help the city to welcome more foreign visitors and avoid the risk of over-reliance on its traditional markets.

The Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr Tran Chi Cuong, said that before the end of this year, more direct flights between the city and new potential countries are expected to be opened in order to welcome more foreign visitors.  However, Mr Cuong stated that this would bring both opportunities and challenges to the city’s tourism sector because local travel agencies would find it very hard to cope with the changes within such a short period of time.
