The World Bank has raised the 2015 growth forecast for Viet Nam as the Southeast Asian country has buoyant growth conditions, compared to a moderate trend in the East Asia Pacific.

Viet Nam is expected to grow 6.2% in 2015, instead of the previous forecast of 6%, and 6.3% in 2016, the Washington-based lender said, citing findings from its East Asia Pacific Economic Update, October 2015 report.

The East Asia Pacific region overall is expected to grow 6.5% in 2015, moderating slightly from 6.8% last year, according to the report obtained by Tuoi Tre News.

East Asia remains one of the main growth drivers of the world economy, accounting for nearly two-fifths of global economic growth, the World Bank said, adding growth conditions will be most buoyant in Viet Nam and the Philippines among the large ASEAN economies.

Viet Nam’s GDP accelerated by 6.3% during the first half of 2015, the fastest first-half-of-the-year growth rate in the last 5 years.
