Development of more entertainment services suggested
Unlike the neighbouring provinces of Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Nam, Da Nang does not possess any major cultural heritage sites. However, this seaside city still attracts both domestic and foreign visitors thanks to its good infrastructure and diversified tourism products.
In particular, the city boasts many luxury seaside holiday resorts offering high-end services, such as the InterContinental, Furama, Hyatt Regency, Fusion Maia, Pullman, Olalani and Vinpearl. However, they tend to attract only high-income earners, perhaps here to enjoy a relaxing vacation.
Mrs Nguyen Thi Yen from Ha Noi said that her family spent their holiday at a seaside holiday resort in Da Nang. She remarked “I was really impressed with the resort’s peaceful and luxurious spaces and services. It is ideal for middle-aged and older people who enjoy relaxing in their own space, but the city is lacking a variety of entertainment options for younger couples”.

Some local tourism experts have also noted that the city has a shortage of international-standard amusement and night-time entertainment areas. The Director of the city’s branch of Vietravel, Mr Doan Hai Dang, stressed the need for the city to focus on investing in more entertainment services in order to extend the stay period of visitors to the city.
Mr Cao Tri Dung, the chairman of the city’s Travel Association, underlined the importance of developing more sea, river and underwater tourism services, building attractive shopping and amusement areas, and organising special musical and arts programmes. He emphasised the need to establish specialised areas featuring bars and pubs for foreigners to allow them to comfortably enjoy their free time at night.
Chairman Dung suggested “Night markets should be opened in those areas which are crowded with visitors, such as the riverside promenade along Bach Dang, the eastern end of the Rong (Dragon) Bridge, and at the western end of Hoang Sa. The markets should feature stalls selling souvenirs, drinks and food, as well as shopping and entertainment activities”.
The Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr Tran Chi Cuong, said “Many festive and cultural activities will be held along the banks of the Han River in April in order to meet the increasing entertainment demands of visitors. In particular, street Tuong and musical performances will be organised alternately each weekend. Trumpet performances should be held in the afternoons instead of the mornings. A ‘My Khe at Night’ event will take place monthly on the 15th day of each lunar month at My Khe Beach. The event will feature various cultural activities and fascinating musical and arts performances”.
