City welcomes first 172 international air passengers of Lunar New Year

At 8.50am today, a welcome ceremony for the first 172  international air passengers to set foot in Da Nang on Lunar New Year's Day (the 1st day of the 1st lunar month) took place at the city's International Airport.

The foreign first footers from HongKong, the USA, Australia and other countries worldwide, arrived on a direct Cathay Dragon-operated flight from HongKong. 

The welcome ceremony was hosted by representatives from the municipal Department of Tourism, and the Da Nang International Airport.

At the welcome ceremony, leaders from the Department of Tourism presented flowers and Tet gifts to the the first international air passengers, and took photos of memorable moments with them.

The foreign air passengers were deeply touched by the warm welcome given by the city’s representatives.  They remarked that during their stay in the city, they will take the opportunity to visit local popular attractions, to go shopping, and to enjoy local specialities.

The city’s international airport now has a total of 11 scheduled and 9 charter international routes.

Last year, the city welcomed a total of over 5.5 million visitors, up 17.7% against 2015.  Over 1.66 million of them were foreigners, up 31.6%.
