Dynamic communities of IT lovers
Over recent years, many young people in Da Nang have shown their keen interest in establishing dynamic communities of information technology (IT) lovers. Most notably, they have a high level of proficiency in English, and they always keep up to date with the latest technology trends, thereby enhancing their competitiveness amongst international IT experts.

About 30 young IT lovers recently gathered at a coffee shop on Nguyen Tri Phuong in Thanh Khe District to learn more about the Internet of Things (IoT). This is the inter-networking of physical devices, vehicles (also referred to as ‘connected devices’ and ‘smart devices’), buildings, and other items embedded with electronics, software, sensors, actuators, and network connectivity which enables these objects to collect and exchange data. These participants included local high school pupils, students and office workers, and all of them have a strong passion for technological products.
Organised by Techsoup.vn, which is the Da Nang IT community, the 3-hour event also featured a mini-game in which the participants were required to create a simple IoT application.
25-year-old Nguyen Huu Trinh, the founder of Techsoup.vn, remarked that his organisation’s first exchange meeting took place last year. Themed ‘The English language - the key to success for IT programmers’, the event attracted many young local people.
Mr Trinh said that his organisation usually invites domestic and foreign IT experts to such exchange meetings during which they are willing to share their opinions about different technology-related topics such as hot tech trends, the necessary skills for IT developers, and other controversial matters in the IT sector.
Thanks to its effective operation, Techsoup.vn has strongly affirmed its position in the local IT community.
Another IT lover, 26-year-old Nguyen Thi Phuong Nhi, founded in 2015 the Google Developer Group (GDG) MienTrung which is an independent group consisting of technology lovers from the central region.
Late last year, this group successfully organised the 3-day Mobile Hackathon 2016 contest which attracted around 100 programmers, software and design engineers, and IT lovers from throughout the central region.
Under the contest’s rules, each participating team produced a practical application within 24 hours, based on their developed ideas. Many of these IT applications received high praise from the judging board for their practical significance.
Today, 1 July, GDG MienTrung will organise the Google I/O Extended MienTrung 2017 between 1.00pm and 5.30pm at the Bamboo Green Hotel, 177 Tran Phu, Hai Chau District.
The event will introduce the participants to the many outstanding apps which made their debut at the recent Google I/O 2017, which is an annual developer conference held by Google in San Francisco, California. I/O showcases in-depth technical sessions focusing on building web, mobile, and enterprise applications with Google and open sources such as Android, Chrome and Chrome OS, APIs, Google Web Toolkit, App Engine, and more.
Ms Nhi said she hoped that there will be more ‘communities’ of local IT lovers in future years, thereby helping them to share their experiences of the technological sector with one another.
