According to Mr Lam Van Hoang, the Head of the Management Board of the Ho Chi Minh Highway Project, his unit has asked the National Assembly to approve for additional about 1,700 billion VND grant for the La Son-Tuy Loan route.

The 4-lane route is part of the 3,183 km-long Ho Chi Minh Highway which runs through a total of 28 Vietnamese localities.  The national highway starts in northern Cao Bang Province and ends in the southernmost Ca Mau Province.

Work started on the about 11.5 trillion VND (515.66 million USD) La Son-Tuy Loan project in 2015.  The project costs are financed by loans from the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ (BTMU) which is Japan’s largest bank.

Stretching a total of 78 km, the route begins in La Son Town, Phu Loc District, Thua Thien-Hue Province, and ends at the intersection with the Da Nang-Quang Ngai Expressway in Da Nang’s Tuy Loan Village.

Developed on the build-transfer (BT) basis, the La Son-Tuy Loan project is expected to be completed by late this year.

As part of the La Son-Tuy Loan route, the clearance of only 1.88km out of the entire length of 11.5km of the Hoa Lien-Tuy Loan road has been to date completed.

During the inspection trip, Vice Chairman Minh pointed out that the biggest obstacle to the construction progress of the La Son-Tuy Loan project is clearance and compensation work.

In particular, greater efforts are being made to persuade displaced families to move out of their agricultural land that had been reclaimed for the project in a bid to build frontage roads at both sides of this route.
