Accordingly, the square will cover the ending sections of the Ha Khe, Nguyen Sinh Sac, Nguyen An Ninh and Nguyen Tat Thanh streets.
Apart from 4 public bathing areas which have been put into operation, namely Thanh Khe, Xuan Thuy, Nam Xuan Thieu and Hoa Hiep 5, the city authorities have given a nod to the setting up of Phu Loc swimming area. Also, plans to create the Bac Xuan Thieu area and expand the Lien Chieu area are under consideration.
In particular, relevant agencies have proposed some specific adjustments to the construction plans of the Trung Thuy Group-invested Lancaster Nam O Resort in Lien Chieu District.
Accordingly, new instructions were given on keeping the status quo of such historic relic sites nearby the project as the Whale Temple, and a temple dedicated to Goddess Lieu Hanh, one of four immortals in Vietnamese legends.
A total of 3 footpaths leading to the Nam O Beach, along with a park and square complex for public use, will be created at the beginning section of the Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, the Whale Temple, at a worship place dedicated to the souls of Vietnamese soldiers who laid down their lives in their struggle against the French forces, and at the mysterious Lieu Hanh Temple facing the Nam O sea cliff. The whole venue is expected to cover an area of 260,254m2.
The city leaders also unanimously agreed on the establishment of a trade and service area along Hung Vuong Street stretching from Vinh Trung Plaza, the Con Market, the Chi Lang Stadium to the Central Square, the Han Market, and then the Bach Dang-Tran Phu area.
The city authorities are currently considering appealing for investment in the conversion of the Da Nang Centre project at the corner of Phan Chau Trinh and Hung Vuong streets into a 4-basement parking area associated with a park for public use.
The National Institute of Architecture under the Ministry of Construction has just completed a design for the establishment of a square surrounding the Dien Hai Citadel, which has been recognised as special national-level relic site.

Covering a total of 10ha belonging to the Thanh Thang and Hai Chau 1 wards in Hai Chau District, the much-awaited square, with the citadel in its centre position, will border Ly Tu Trong to the north, Quang Trung to the south, Nguyen Chi Thanh to the west, and the Han River to the east.
The upgrade of these streets will be deployed with a focus on planting trees and creating more green spaces.
In a similar vein, alleys in residential areas to the west of the citadel will be refurbished with mural paintings, floral arrangements, flowers and ornamental plants.
As part of the project, a section of the eastern bank of the Han River will feature impressive urban landscapes stretching from the former Han River Port to the ending section of Quang Trung.
Of note, a restaurant - café - bar and marina complex under construction will be added to the square’s space, whilst the municipal Administrative Centre and the Novotel Hotel will be considered as landmark high-rises within the square.
Work is now on track on the 1st stage of a project featuring the restoration and embellishment of the Dien Hai Citadel which is expected to be deployed at a total cost of over 102.7 billion VND (over 4.4 million USD).
