During their Da Nang trip in early November, a male visitor from Ha Noi’s Nam Tu Liem District and his friends encountered an unexpected problem in which their motorcycle they had hired from a shop was stolen when it was being parked in front of a hotel located in Phuoc My Ward where they stay.

However, the Ha Noi visitors and the hotel owner could not unanimously agree about affairs relating to compensation. As the conflict continued escalating, the two must resort to help from the municipal Visitor Support Center.

Soon after, the Centre assigned the Son Tra District tourist support team to handle this incident. Just a few minutes later, team members were present at the hotel to settle the conflict between the parties with optimal solutions.

The 2 visitors expressed their high appreciation for the great support, enthusiasm and devotion of the team members.

More recently, in another case, 2 elderly visitors from the northern province of Hoa Binh, both aged 80, did remember the way back to their hotel after having swum at a local beach. Upon receiving the report made by the two, the team members managed to contact the leader of the visiting group in which the 2 visitors join.

Ms Vo Thi Phuong, the Head of the Son Tra District Culture and Information Office cum the Head of the district-level visitor support team said, the establishment of such a group aims to give support to tourists in direct, quickly, and effective manner.

Currently, the team consists of 19 members in total, 15 of whom are employees working for the district and ward-level authorities, whilst the remaining ones are volunteers fluently speaking English, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese.

In the coming time, the district-level authorities will develop operational regulations assign specific roles to each of the team members. The official website of the team will be set up soon in order to regularly update information on visitors.

Special heed will be paid to ensure effective coordination between the team and tourism businesses, accommodation establishments and concerned State management agencies in handling problems facing tourists during their stay in the city.

Last, but not least, training will be offered to the team members so as to help them enhance their foreign language proficiency, thereby facilitating them to smoothly contact international visitors, especially those from such large tourist markets as China and South Korea.

According to Mr Nguyen Dac Xung, the Vice Chairman of the district People's Committee, amid the growing number of tourist arrivals in the city in recent times, the team’s effective operation helps to enhance the quality of tourism services in the district, and advertise the tourism brand of the district, and that of the city at large.
