Although the forthcoming Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2019 coincides with the city’s tourism peak season, accommodation providers still ensure sufficient supplies of rooms for visitors from both home and abroad.

The Head of the municipal Tourism Department’s Accommodation Service Management Division, Ms Le Thi Ai Diep, said since 2017 the market price stabilisation programme has been no longer issued.

Accordingly, accommodation establishments in the city are allowed to adjust the prices of their room rates depending on their facilities, human resources, and services. However, they are required to submit their changed prices to the municipal Department of Finance or the district-level authorities for consideration.

Hotels are only allowed to apply changed prices after getting approval from the municipal Department of Finance or the district-level authorities approve and having their changed prices displayed at https://kekhaigia.danang.gov.vn/.

Ms Diep said most of local accommodation providers do not increase their room rates over the forthcoming festival period.

She added the main reason is thought to be that recent years have seen a tremendous boom in the number of accommodation establishments in the city, leading to stronger competition between them.

“However, some hotels located along the both banks of the Han River which boast favourable position to watch fireworks performances are increasing their room rates by between 20 and 40% above normal days over the forthcoming festival period”, she noted.

Mr Nguyen Nhu Nam, the General Director of the Viet Nam Travel Mart Company, underscored that this year’s festival did not coincide with the long-day break for public holidays, so hotels and resorts in the city would do not face visitor overload like previous events.

In particular, inspectors from the municipal Department of Finance and relevant agencies are increasing their checks over accommodation establishments’ displayed prices between 20 May and 7 July.
