A seminar on attracting Thai investors to Da Nang took place in the city on Wednesday.

Attending the event were businesspeople from 40 Thai firms, led by Mr Tanee Sangrat, the Thai Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City.

In his remarks at the event, Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Tran Van Mien expressed his delight at growing number of Thai investors showing their keen interest in pouring their money into Da Nang’s aspects such as support industry, tourism, services, hi-tech agricultural production, and clean energy.

Mr Mien noted Da Nang is now home to 6 Thai-invested projects totalling around 21 million USD, including 4 service and 2 production projects.

“In 2018 alone, the number of tourists from the land of the Golden Pagodas ranked 5th in the total number of international visitors to Da Nang with a total of nearly 60,000 visitors, up by 48.9% against 2017”, he added.

During the seminar, Thai businesspeople said they wanted to be provided with more necessary information relating to the city’s investment attraction strategy and its incentive policies for foreign investors.

Also, Thai investors expressed great interest in the operation of the Da Nang Port as well as in seeking Vietnamese potential partners in the coming time.
