Raising Koi fish directly imported from Japan has become the latest trend for Vietnamese wealthy elite. The young man has managed to rise to success with his startup no matter what kind of challenges or how many difficult situations he must go through in his life.

During his academic study at a university, Phi offered aquarium creation services to satisfy his passion and make a living as well.

Having graduated form the Faculty of Automatic Electronics at a university in 2013, he started to work for a Japanese-invested factory, and only 2 years later, he climbed to the position of quality manager. Surprisingly, Phi decided to give up his job to do startup business which makes him get closer to nature.

In 2017, Phi founded the Hoang Huy Koi Garden Trading and Service Co., Ltd., which specialises in designing and creating garden landscapes and fish ponds. Thanks to his aesthetic sense, enthusiasm and professional skills, Phi has won the trust of many clients.

“In modern society, many people face much stress that arises from work-life conflicts. That is the main reason why I decided to start up with the close-to-nature services by creating more peaceful and relaxing spaces for  city dwellers to get close to the natural world and feel at ease.

To date, Phi’s own company have constructed hundreds of large and small-sized fish ponds and garden creation projects in Da Nang and other central regional localities. The company earns an annual profit of 800 million VND to 1 billion VND.

Encouragingly, Phi and his staff members are exerting every effort to complete a large Koi fish pond whose cost could amount to tens of billion VND, with a capacity of 200m3 of water in Vientiane, Laos.

Early this year, Phi opened a new café named ‘The gioi Koi Coffee’ (The World of Koi Fish coffee shop) at 569 Nui Thanh, Hoa Cuong Nam Ward, Hai Chau District, with modern designs and a beautiful natural setting.

Customers are offered a chance to relax in the tranquil surroundings of well-designed Koi fish ponds while sipping their favourite coffee.

Despite having already attained significant success, Kiem still desires more from his business. Phi is planning to expand the scale of Koi fish farms.

To many, Koi fish are simply colored carp from Japan weighing 20 - 25kg, but to those in-the-know, Koi fish are a symbol of fortune and courage prized by wealthy hobbyists who determine each fish’s value based on its color, pattern, and brightness.
