The accelerator helps startups solve specific, technical challenges with the best of Google resources - people, network, and technologies. These offerings and their measurable impact on startups' businesses set this accelerator apart.

As part of the Google for Startups Accelerator, selected founders outline the top challenges facing their startups, and are then paired with relevant experts from Google and the industry to solve those challenges.

Participating startups will receive mentorship and specialised support from the programme’s global mentor network, as well as access to Google's AI/ML, Cloud, Android, and Web experts.

According to the programme’s website, this virtual accelerator will run from 11 August to 12 November , 2020. Bootcamp week will take place from 7 to 10 September, 2020. Graduation week will run from  9 to 12 November , 2020.

Through this highly practical programme, Google wants to seed to Series A startups boasting technology-based products. Startups are required to have some level of market traction with their product/service and are past the “idea stage”, with some initial customer validation.

Also, the programme is calling for the participation by startup projects which are solving for the challenges we face today: whether that’s startups looking at new healthcare, education, finance or logistics solutions in light of social distancing restrictions; using AI/ML or data analysis in meaningful ways; or using technology to make the world more inclusive for the elderly or people with disabilities.

Last, but not least, the startup’s founding team and/or key team members should be able to demonstrate their technical and business skills, along with mindset to grow and scale a company in this region.

Google for Startups Accelerator: Southeast Asia is conducted in English, and accepts applications from startups headquartered in Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam.

The programme is Google's long-term commitment to helping startups address specific technical challenges with its support and resources.

The application deadline is 19 July, 2020. For further information, please visit at https://sites.google.com/view/gfs-accelerator-sea/home.
