Developed by the US-based Universal Alloy Corporation Asia Pte. The 170 million US$ Sunshine aerospace components factory is accelerating the growth of the Hi-tech Park |
Covering a total area of 16.7ha, the factory boasts a designed annual capacity of 12,470 tonnes. The 1st stage, built on an area of 10.9ha, features subdivisions producing detailed parts used in aerospace, along with raw materials and aluminum alloys.
In the first months of this year, the processing lines at the factory were completed, and its first products meeting high-quality standards have been exported to UAC’s partners worldwide, including renowned aircraft manufacturers and airlines.
Meanwhile, the 2nd stage will be put into operation on an area of more than 5.8 ha in April 2023. Focus will be on manufacturing parts used in aviation and raw materials from composite materials.
Once fully operational, the factory will export its products to North America and Europe worth an estimated US$ 25 million by 2021, US$ 82 million a year later, and US$ 180 million annually from 2026 onwards.
Established in 1961, UAC is a leading global manufacturer of aircraft components, usually producing them under long-term supply contracts with Boeing and Airbus. It also supplies components to Embraer, Bombardier and their associated supply chains.
Along with production activities kept on track, over the past year, UAC Viet Nam has promoted the recruitment of personnel from universities and colleges across the city.
In particular, 95 graduates from the Da Nang Vocational Training Junior College specialising in mechanical engineering, mechatronics and electrical engineering, have been recruited by UAC Viet Nam.
For the time being, a total of more than 500 engineers and workers working at the factory, and this figure is scheduled to climb to more than 1,000 in the near future.
The company will offer training on 5-axis machining techniques for recently-graduated engineers whose major is mechanical engineering from the Da Nang University of Technology and Science.
At present, the company is facing some difficulties as its foreign experts cannot return to the factory for work amid closed borders due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The company is carrying out the procedures for allowing its international human resources’ entry into Viet Nam for work given they comply with its quarantine regulations with the support of the Authority of the Da Nang High-Tech Park and Industrial Zones in an attempt to solve the problem.
Mr Pham Truong Son, the Head of the Authority of Da Nang’s Hi-Tech Park and Industrial Zones, highly lauded the large-scale project in accelerating investment promotion activities into the Hi-tech Park, thereby promoting the city’s growth, as well as creating a driving force for the growth of the city’s hi-tech industry and socio-economy. In addition to generating huge economic value, the project has also created many job opportunities for locals, especially graduates from universities and junior colleges.
