The Da Nang Department of Construction has just made a report to the municipal administration about adjustments to designs for embankment and landscape architecture along the banks of the Co Co River, which flows through parts of both Da Nang and Quang Nam Province.

Till date, the Da Nang Urban Planning Institute has adjusted the design for landscape architecture for 12 embankment sections along the banks of Co Co River.

With regard to overall riverbank landscape designs, heed will be paid to expanding community connectivity, developing inland waterway tourism, launching diverse activities to satisfy the daily needs of both locals and tourists, upgrading transport infrastructure, and speeding up adaptation to climate change.

The dredging of the river work as part of a project to develop a waterway route connecting two of Central Viet Nam’s most well known tourist destinations for driving their tourism development.

This waterway project is expected to showcase such features as tourists boats, bridges, wharves and recreational centres, rest stops, parking lots, food and souvenir shops, emerging as alternatives to exploring Da Nang and Hoi An by car or motorbike as currently.

To date, the two localities have already agreed on the review of construction investment projects along both sides of the river, hereby making appropriate adjustments to ensure the synchronism in terms of infrastructure, architecture, landscape, and cultural value along the river.

Da Nang functional bodies have been urged to accelerate site clearance and compensation schemes for the river dredging project, and ask for recommendations on the aforementioned adjustment from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, especially on a section passing the Ngu Hanh Son Cultural and Historical Park.

Previously, early this month, Quang Nam’s relevant agencies commented the dredge of a more than 14km section stretching from Hoi An to Dien Duong Ward, Dien Ban town.
