Da Nang pulls out all the stops to support investors to drive its growth

A meeting took place on Friday to review bright spots in Da Nang’s investment attraction promotion between 2016 and 2020 in line with Da Nang Party Committee-adopted Conclusion 30-KL/TU, and fruitful results from ‘The year of promoting investment attraction' landmark campaign over the 2018 – 2020 period.

The event were attended by such guests of honour as Chinese Consul General in Da Nang Xi Hui, Lao Consul General in the city Viengxay Phommachanh, Korean Consulate General in Da Nang Ahn Min Sik, Head of the Japanese Consular Office in Da Nang, Yakabe Yoshinori, Spanish Honorary Deputy Consul General in Da Nang Jose Sanchez-Barroso Gonzalez.

Also in attendance were such Da Nang leaders as municipal Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang, municipal Party Committee Deputy Secretary cum People’s Council Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, and municipal Party Committee Deputy Secretary cum People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh.

Over the 2016 - 2020 period, the successfully-held APEC Economic Leaders' Week 2017 in Da Nang marked a milestone in significant lifting the city’s image to international friends, especially on the world arena.

Also, such public heed-catching events on investment attraction as Da Nang Investment Forum and Spring Dialogue really proved their high efficiency in introducing great development potentials, advantages and investment opportunities in the city to domestic and foreign investors.

In particular, the year of 2018, 2019 and 2020 gave the top priority to deploying the investment attraction promotion campaign under which many breakthrough solutions and innovations were taken to create the most favourable possible conditions for businesses operating citywide to their full potential.

A special heed was paid to removing any difficulties and obstacles that hinder corporate operations, hereby making the local open, transparent and highly competitive investment environment,

Like in other Vietnamese localities, 2020 is showing itself as a very tough year for Da Nang heavily burdened by unexpected situations both sparked by COVID-19 and natural disasters.

In the teeth of these unexpected crises, Da Nang has stayed strong than ever to sucessfully contained the pandemic, which helped it rise to fame as a bright spot on the investment map of the Southeast Asian region, and the world at large, especially amidst international investors tending to move their investment flows to safer markets.

Addressing the event, Secretary Quang affirms the specially important role of strategic investors operating in such key sectors as information technology, high technology, finance, and quality services.

In addition to promoting the available advantages, Da Nang will be on par with other Vietnamese cities and provinces by sharpening the competitive edge for its investment breakthroughs.

In the immediate future, focus will be placed on perfecting the local logistics system by giving a facelift to the existing Da Nang International Airport with the construction of a cargo terminal there, upgrading the handling capacity of the Tien Sa Port to receive ships with higher deadweight tonnages, and provincial-level logistics centres in suburb Hoa Vang District.

The city Party chief pledged that Da Nang government would make as much all-out efforts as they can so as to seek out the common ground and harmonise the interests of the city itself and businesses.

The city leader also hoped to see all investors strictly comply with their investment commitments, thereby building up a strong corporate community to become a key pillar of the city’s economic development strides.
