In January 2021, train passengers across Viet Nam who buy tickets 2 days ahead their departure dates can travel at half the normal price for their journeys, the Viet Nam Railways Corporation (VNR) has recently announced.

This VNR-launched promotional campaign aims to stimulate travel by train among residents and visitors for the next year.

The discount will be applied for trips of more than 500km on pairs of the trains SE3 /4 and SE7/8 (on Fridays), and those of over 400km on pairs of trains SE21/22 and SE7/8 (on Mondays).

Also, passengers on pairs of SPT1/2 trains running on Sai Gon-Nha Trang route with over 250km, and on pairs of SPT1/2 trains travelling between Sai Gon and Phan Thiet with their trips of over 150km, will get 50% off rail fares.

Of special note, the special discount offer will only available for your journeys in soft seats and air-conditioned six sleeper-seat cabins.

Half price train tickets will go on sale from 28 December - 27 January at train stations, booking agents, or online.

Likewise, the half-price discount programme will be valid on trips in train services SE1/2, SE5/6, and on the Ha Noi-Vinh, Ha Noi-Hai Phong, and Ha Noi-Lao Cai routes from 4 - 29 January.
