Da Nang IT industry eyes 32,800 billion VND in revenue in 2021
Prominent amongst the outstanding achievements Da Nang recorded last year were its Viet Nam Smart City Award 2020, along with the grasp of three other national-level prizes in the categories of smart public services, smart digital infrastructure, and the best cities for startups and innovations. In 2020, the city’s entire information and communication technology (ICT) industry recorded a growth rate of 5.24%.
By late this year, Da Nang ICT sector will have earned 32,800 billion VND worth of revenue, reaching110 million US$ in export earnings, and recording the value –added and revenue growth rates of 5 - 6% and 10-11%, respectively.
These figures were released by Da Nang Department of Information and Communication at its Friday meeting, which reviewed the ICT sector’s performances over the past year and development tasks for 2021.
In his remarks at the event, municipal People's Committee Vice Chairman Le Quang Nam asked the Department of Information and Communications to closely work with other relevant local agencies to implement the Politburo-adopted Resolution No 43-NQ/TW regarding Da Nang’s major developments to 2030 with a vision to 2045, and the Digital Transformation Project in the city by 2025, with a vision to 2030.
Another urgent task the local ICT sector must fulfill is to boost the wide publicity of the election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 term.
The Friday event also saw a signing ceremony of a trilateral cooperation agreement on piloting the implementation of the Digital Transformation Project amongst the Department of Information and Communications, local IT enterprises and ward/ commune-level People's Committees.
