Da Nang tourism industry is gearing up for a positive 2021 after the city welcomed large numbers of domestic visitors during New Year breaks, with more than 50,300 tourist arrivals, up about 38% compared to the previous forecast. This, of course, marks an encouraging signal for Da Nang tourism industry’s rebound, hereby opening up many prosperous expectations for this year.

One of the highlights that attracted a great deal of attention and applause from Da Nang people and tourists was the more-bustling-than-expected ‘Da Nang Welcomes in New Year 2021’ Festival. This took the public by surprise with an array of exciting events at the Sun World Da Nang Wonders (Asia Park) from 29 December, 2020 to 2 January, 2021. Both Da Nang people and tourists have immerged themselves in relaxing moments at such events as the Noodle Festival and lion dance performances.

Tran Minh Truong, a male traveller from Ha Noi, said, after a long period of being unable to travel domestically due to the coronavirus crisis, his return to Da Nang during New Year breaks left him a very deep impression as he joined many well-organised highly-exciting events here.

“Welcoming in the new year in this festive atmosphere in Da Nang is a whole new experience, a very memorable memory for me”, the male holiday marker early said.

Immersing himself in the vibrant vibes of night-time street musical performances on the first day of 2021, Mr Simone, a South African national currently residing in An Hai Tay Ward, Son Tra District highly lauded such highly enticing events for bringing up a new vitality to Da Nang this year.

After a period of absence of tourists due to the coronavirus crisis, about 5,100 visitors came to the Marble Mountains Tourist Area, one of Da Nang’s most popular attractions, during the first three days of the new year.

The majority of the first visitors to this inviting place were independent holiday makers and family-based groups. The visitors showed their eagerness to enjoy free admission whilst being served well by enthusiastic and polite staff at this venue.

1 January was the first day the Marble Mountains Tourist Area, along with museums and relic sites across Da Nang to apply the admission fee waiver, which is valid until 31 December 2021.

Not less bustling than the Marble Mountains Tourist Area, such other renowned attractions as the SunWorld Ba Na Hills and the Nui Than Tai Hot Spring Park witnessed jubilant and joyful entertainment activities.

On 1 and 2 January, the Nui Than Tai Hot Spring Park, for instance, welcomed about 2,000 visitors. Likewise, a combined total of more than 2,000 Da Nang people and tourists explored the beauty of Da Nang, especially the stunning beauty of bridges spanning the Han River, with free-of-charge evening sightseeing cruises.

These free boat tours on Han River offered locals and visitors unique views of Da Nang and helped them watch the dragon’s head breathe firing and squirting water.

According to initial revelations by Director of Da Nang Department of Tourism Truong Thi Hong Hanh, in preparation for serving tourists in a better manner, Da Nang tourism industry will set sights on handling harassment of tourists and securing their safety to make Da Nang a civilised and friendly destination in the eyes of international tourists.

This year, heed will be paid to creating even more special product packages such as M.I.C.E (Meetings-Incentives-Conferences-Exhibitions), and cultural tourism to promote the domestic tourist market.

Between 15 and 28 February, 2021, such major events as the Vietnamese New Year Festival, and relaxation and entertainment stimulus packages will take their shape to entertain the public across Da Nang in a new attractive fashion.

The April – August 2021 period will see a wide range of activities within the framework of the ‘Exciting Da Nang Summer’ offering great deals on beach leisure services, nighttime discovery tours to the Sun World Ba Na Hills and the Marble Mountains Tourist Area.

In parallel with this landmark programme, locals and tourists will be treated to a chain of such other cultural and sports events which have lifted Da Nang’s reputation over recent years as the Fantastic Da Nang Festival, Viet Nam International Travel Mart (VITM), IRONMAN 70.3 Viet Nam triathlon, Da Nang International Fireworks Festival, the Da Nang International Marathon (DNIM), and the first-ever Miss Tourism Da Nang 2021 beauty pageant.
