Data published by the Da Nang Department of Planning and Investment show that, a combined total of 1,270 businesses resumed operations in 2020, up 12.2% against 2019. This is a positive sign of the city’s economic recovery in light of the complicated developments of coronavirus pandemic.

Additionally, the Da Nang authorities granted business registration certificates to 4,274 new domestic and foreign businesses, branches and representative offices, with a total registered charter capital of 22,190 billion VND. The average registered capital of each firm was 5.2 billion VND.

Last year saw a significant drop in the number of new businesses against 2019. In particular, the number of newly-established businesses involved in employment, tourism, along with machinery and equipment rental services went down by 45%, compared to 2019, in real estates by 45.8%, and other services by 45.9%.

Meanwhile, there was a slight increase in the number of newly-established businesses and organisations involving electricity, water and gas production and distribution; and healthcare and social welfare.
