Da Nang government, on Tuesday, granted investment licences to six investment projects, including three foreign-invested ones, in the Hi-tech Park and industrial zones in the city. This is dubbed as a good sign, opening up more opportunities for the city to welcome a new wave of foreign investment in the time ahead.

The Da Nang Hi-tech Park is aiming to reach the goal of developing into the “nucleus” of the city’s northwestern region, and serving as a drive of the city's science and technology development.

The three aforementioned FDI projects are developed by Japanese and US investors. In detail, a 110 million US$ semiconductor factory jointly invested by US nationals- Ha Vinh Ly and Nhe Thi Le, and the 35 million US$ Fujikin Da Nang research-development-production centre, both of which will be developed in the Hi-tech Park. Meanwhile, the 300,000 US$ EPE Packaging Viet Nam project is slated to take shape in the expanded Hoa Khanh Industrial Park (IP).

The three domestically-invested projects with a total capital of 73.4 billion VND are scheduled to be carried out in the Hoa Khanh IP and expanded Hoa Khanh IP.

Besides, the municipal administration also handed over an in-principle approval on investment policy to a 135-million USD project on 3D printing services of Arevo Inc. from the US at the Hi-Tech Park.

This project aims to manufacture 3D printers, design and manufacture of 3D-printed carbon fibre composite materials, and 3D printing software.

Already, 3D printing, or additive manufacturing, has moved beyond the experimental stage, and is being used in a variety of applications where often the parts are complex to produce or require high levels of customisation.

On this occasion, Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh has granted a certificated showcasing the Prime Minister's policy on adjusting and supplementing plans for developing IPs across Da Nang.

Da Nang government has pledged to create the most favourable possible conditions and give active support for true investors so that they can carry out research, investment, production and business activities in the city in a more effective and smoother manner in the time to come.

Till date, the Hi-Tech Park has received 12 domestically-invested projects worth 6.29 trillion VND (273 million US$) and 12 FDI projects worth 545.1 million USD.

The Hi-tech Park is on its great mission to realise its goal of developing into the “nucleus” of the city’s northwestern region, a big scientific and technological centre in Viet Nam, thereby helping accelerate the city’s socio-economic performance.

In total, Da Nang has lured 496 projects totalling nearly 2.9 billion US$ in the High-Tech Park and IPs.

Businesses operating at the Da Nang Hi-tech Parks and IZs have together created employment for a combined total of more than 90,000 job seekers hailing from Da Nang and elsewhere in Viet Nam.

As planed, Da Nang will attach importance to completing infrastructure construction as soon as possible at the 2nd stage of the Hoa Cam Industrial Park (IP), and the Hoa Nhon and Hoa Ninh IPs, and in parallel with developing the Hoa Khanh Nam, Cam Le, Hoa Nhon, Hoa Hiep Bac industrial clusters in the time to come.

In terms of future development orientations, Da Nang will give the priority to developing clean hi-tech industries and environmentally-friendly products, encouraging the utility of clean energy sources in production activities and low-emission technologies.

Economic development associated with environmental protection is one of the most important requirements set for Da Nang.

In the coming time, FDI inflows into such aspects as ICT, digital, nano-engineering, bio-industry, hi-tech, and research and development (R&D) projects are highly welcomed.
