In these days nearing Tet, fishing vessels have continuously berthed bumper-to-bumper at the Da Nang-based Tho Quang Fishing Wharf after their offshore fishing trips to the Hoang Sa waters in a bid to ensure prompt supply of seafood for Tet market.
According to the Management Board of the Tho Quang Fishing Wharf and Port, a combined total of between 60 and 70 fishing boats dock at the wharf every day.
Returning ashore after 3 weeks of fishing in the Hoang Sa waters, fishing boat QNg 97092 from Quang Ngai Province brought back 4.5 tonnes of scabbardfish, mackerel, sailfish and squid. This offshore trip helped the boat’s crew members earn 300 million VND in profits.
Mr Truong Quang Thai also hailing from Quang Ngai Province, the owner of fishing vessel QNg 97609 TS, said that he and his crew members earned 600 million VND from their catches after an 8-day offshore fishing trip.
“After this offshore fishing trip, we will return home to celebrate Tet with our families. On the 20th day of the 1st lunar month, we will head out to sea” said fisherman Thai.
