Many Da Nang-based businesses resumed their operations on 17 February (the 6th day of the 1st lunar month), after the week-long Tet holiday, seeing most of their employees already setting aside the fun of enjoying the relaxing festive ambiance of the ‘post-Tet’ to return to work with a high sense of responsibility and dedication. In particular, amidst the complicated COVID-19 pandemic raging in some Vietnamese localities, Da Nang businesses are now stabilising their operations in tandem with ensuring the strict practice of the Health Ministry-mandated 5K (in Vietnamese) motto: namely ‘Khau trang’ (Face mask) – ‘Khu khuan’ (Disinfection) – ‘Khoang cach’ ‘Distance’ - ‘Khong tu tap’ (No gatherings) – ‘Khai bao y te’ (Health Declaration) in a bid to prevent the spread of the virus .

Serious work atmosphere was recorded at the  X50 Factory, which belongs to the Song Thu Corporation, under General Department of Defence Industry on the first day back to work after Tet breaks.

X50 Factory now has more than 350 employees in total, of whom over 200 are skilled workers. After Tet breaks, about 95% of the Factory X50 workers have returned to workplace. Of these, no one returned from coronavirus-hit Vietnamese localities.

Colonel Le Van Sy, Secretary of the Party organisation of the X50 Factory, said that, at the beginning of the working day, all of the employees have their body temperatures measured.

As for the Tokyo Keiki Precision Technology Co., Ltd. located in Hoa Vang District-based Da Nang Hi-tech Park, about 95% of workers have returned to their company for work.

Out of 71 employees, about 50 - 60% are Da Nang residents, whilst the rest are mainly from neighbouring provinces and cities free from the coronavirus resurgence. However, the company have still strictly implemented highly-commented COVID-19 prevention and control measures.

As a labour-intensive enterprise, with 3,700 employees, the Daiwa Vietnam Co., Ltd. views the practice of the 5K rule a top priority.

Accordingly, all of the staffers are required to wear face masks and wash their hands with sanitizer gel, along with undergo compulsory body temperature measurements at the entrance gates, in line with the coronavirus prevention guidance.

In particular, the company has maintained the use of dining tables equipped with drop-resistant cardboard partitions to ensure the safe distance among workers, as well as maintain their hygiene when eating and drinking, and kept multiple dining shifts unchanged.

Meanwhile, Da Nang Tourism Association Chairman Cao Tri Dung analysed, this time, the tourism industry is not in need a lot of manpower, so immigrant tourism employees residing in who live far away Da Nang or in pandemic-hit locales have yet to return to the city for work. Therefore, most of the tourism businesses in Da Nang now only employs those who have permanent residence in Da Nang. Thanks to this, the COVID-19 prevention and control tasks have fulfilled quite well.

According to data published by the Da Nang Confederation of Labour, as of 19 February, more than 40,000 employees working in industrial parks had returned to work, reaching 98%.

In order to motivate employees’ work performance, most businesses presented lucky money valued from 100,000 to 500,000 VND each to their employees on the first day back to work after Tet breaks.
