A variety of colourful flowers and ornamental plants, including kumquat, apricot blossom, chrysanthemums, sunflowers, dahlias and begonias, are on sale at Tet flower markets in Da Nang. This year, such flower markets are opening at the 29 March Square opposite the 2 September Peace Monument, a vacant land lot opposite the Lien Chieu District Administrative Centre, and the Hoa Vang District Administrative Centre from 2 - 11 February (21st to 30th days of the 12th lunar month).

As reported, on Tuesday, large numbers of people visited the large Tet flower market at the 29 March Square to buy ornamental plants and flowers to decorate their houses to celebrate the upcoming Tet.

Mr Lu Cong Thanh from Ngu Hanh Son District’s Hoa Hai Ward who has more than 20 years of experience trading Tet flowers said he has prepared for around 10,000 pots of such different kinds of flowers as hollyhocks, sunflowers, dahlias and marigolds for this year’s Tet market. He remarked that the prices of this year’s Tet flowers and ornamental plants are 20-30% cheaper than last year’s.

Meanwhile, chrysanthemums and kumquat are dominating the flower markets at a vacant land lot opposite the Lien Chieu District Administrative Centre, and the Hoa Vang District Administrative Centre. Kumquat is being sold at prices ranging between one million VND and three million VND per pot, whilst a pair of chrysanthemum pots is being offered at 500,000 VND.

Flower sellers said that Tet flowers were showing off good yields and rich variety due to recent favourable weather conditions. They hoped that they would sell out flower pots before Tet, thereby earning high profits to celebrate happy and joyful Tet with their family members.

Below are some amazing photos, captured by our reporters Van Hoang and Mai Que, depicting the boisterous trading atmosphere at these markets.
