US and Japanese investors pour money into Da Nang Hi-tech Park
The Authority of Da Nang's Hi-Tech Park and Industrial Zones has earmarked the land lot No A13 at the Hi-tech Park for the US-based AREVO Inc to carry out a project on manufacturing 3D printers and 3D-printed carbon fibre composite materials.
3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, is a transformative approach to industrial production that enables the creation of lighter, stronger parts and systems, as well as replaces such traditional manufacturing methods as Computer Numerical Control, or CNC.
This highly practical technology has moved beyond the experimental stage, and it is being used in a variety of applications where often the parts are complex to produce or require high levels of customisation.
Head of the Authority Pham Truong Son highlighted the significance of this large project to boost innovative startups and investment promotion activities, and human resource development, at the Hi-tech Park.
Most recently, the Authority of Da Nang's Hi-Tech Park and Industrial Zones has granted an investment license to the Fujikin-Danang Research and Development (R&D) Centre at the Da Nang Hi-tech Park.
Invested by the Japan-based Fujikin International Co., Ltd, the US$ 35 million facility, which will be the first of its kind in Viet Nam, will produce air valves using semi-conductor production lines, artificial intelligence (AI) robots, new generation medical equipment, and hydrogen energy technology.
Work on this project is set to begin in May this year, and the project is scheduled to be officially put into operation in July 2022.
This is the 7th Japanese-invested project to have invested into the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park, and it is the second-largest source of foreign direct investment into the park after the US$40 million Tokyo Keiki project.
