The Da Nang General Statistics Office said the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) in Da Nang in February increased by 2.41% against January, and a rise of 1.69% when compared with the same period last year, with a hike in some certain aspects.

Out of the city’s 11 commodity and service groups, nine rose significantly compared to January.

The prices of housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials climbed by 5.3%, transport services 2.79%, catering services 2.6%, commodity and other services 2.1%, household appliances 1.18%; garments and footwear 0.92%, beverage and cigarette 0.9%, culture, entertainment and tourism services 0.08%, educational services 0.01%.

As for the remaining two groups, the cost of drugs and medical services went down by  0.06% , whilst a decline of 0.03% was recorded in post and telecommunications.

The CPI increase in February was mainly attributed to the high demand for food, gasoline, fuel, electricity and water supplies, home repair, beauty care and garment services for Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year) breaks.
