The Da Nang Department of industry and Trade is urging all retailers, wholesalers and other distributors to stockpile food and other essential items with the volume which is at least three times higher than usual amid the complicated and unpredictable developments of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is a part of the city’s COVID-19 preparedness and response plan for the possible long-lasting effects of the pandemic in Da Nang and future increased number of isolation areas.

In addition, Da Nang’s Traditional Market Management Authority is asked to monitor price fluctuations in all wet markets across the city and the purchasing power in these places.

Relevant agencies and functional forces must increase their checks and monitoring of the display of the prices of all goods to be sold at all wet markets, and the selling of goods at displayed prices.  Drastic measures must be put in place to stop speculation and hoarding in a bid to ensure an adequate supply of food and other essential items for local residents in times of COVID-19 cisis.
