In its efforts to ensure the supply of energy for homes and businesses in Da Nang, especially companies located in the Hi-Tech Park and industrial parks (IPs), where numerous important investment projects are operating, the electricity sector has focused on accelerating investments in infrastructure with the deployment of its key projects in an attempt to provide its best possible service for its customers.

Nearly 1,000 billion VND poured into investments in electricity infrastructure

Mr. Le Hong Cuong, Director of the Da Nang Power Company (PC) said that the company is focussing on accelerating investments in infrastructure in order to meet growing demand from companies as the Hi-Tech Park is expected to see a dramatic increase in the number of investment projects in the coming years. This is also an important factor to help Da Nang increase its competitive advantage to attract domestic and foreign investments.

Data released by Da Nang PC show that, in recent years, VND 400 billion on average have been spent annually on upgrading the power grid to ensure a secure supply of the electricity in the city. Besides, investments from the Central Power Corporation and Power Transmission Company No. 2 have brought the total annual investment capital to nearly 1,000 billion VND in electricity infrastructure in Da Nang. Of this, a significant amount has gone to improving the quality of electricity supply services in the Hi-Tech Park and IPs.

IPs have received stable power supply from 110kV substations. Included are Da Nang IP in Son Tra District, Lien Chieu and Hoa Khanh IPs, both in Lien Chieu District, Hoa Cam IP in Cam Le District, High-tech Park and Dedicated Information Technology Park. In particular, the Hi-Tech Park and the Information Technology Park, which have great potential for large-scale expansion and investment attraction from domestic and foreign investors, boast a modern power grid meeting the N-1 Criterion in Power Transmission Networks.

Mr. Huynh Trinh, Director of Da Nang Forestry Products Export Joint Stock Company located in Hoa Cam IP, applauded the Da Nang PC for its efforts to ensure a stable power supply for companies in IPs to help them operate effectively and minimise losses.

Mr. Pham Truong Son, Head of the Authority of the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park and Industrial Parks, said that the past two years have seen significant improvements in electricity supply services in Hi-Tech Park and IPs.

Ensuring a stable power supply for companies in High-Tech Park

Mr. Pham Truong Son underscored the need for Da Nang PC to make greater efforts to improve its services to meet growing demand for energy from companies operating in the Hi-Tech Park. In addition, the heed should be paid on replacing the existing overhead power cables with underground ones in order to ensure both aesthetics and convenience for maintenance work. .

Mr. Hiroyuki Ishi, Director General of Midori Safety Footwear Vietnam Company, Vice Chairman of Japanese Business Association in Da Nang, said the quality of electricity supply services in Da Nang is one of the top concerns for foreign investors when making investment decisions in IPs , especially in the High-Tech Park.

He also highlighted huge efforts Da Nang PC have made over recent years to ensure a stable power supply for companies across the city.

In 2021, Da Nang PC will carry out such key projects as building 2 more Hoa Lien 110kV substations, installing 22kV transmission lines from Hoa Khanh 2 substation to Hi-Tech Park in a bid to improve power availability and reliability in the city, especially in the Hi-Tech Park, in the coming time. In addition, many power grid projects are being carried out in parallel to the city’s key projects in order to make sure that power supply will be ready after these projects are completed and put into operation.

“We strive to make Da Nang one of first localities in Viet Nam to automate the power grid and install unmanned substations and more in an attempt to build a smart power supply for the city”, Mr. Le Hong Cuong said.
