Promoting farming product sales via digital platforms
A memorandum of understanding has been signed to carry out a programme on supporting digital transformation and assisting small- and medium-sized enterprises, cooperatives and household-run establishments in the consumption of farm produce in the country.
Signatories were the Agency of Enterprise Development under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s Agro Processing and Market Development Authority, the Viet Nam Cooperative Alliance’s Trade Promotion and Investment Centre, and Grab Viet Nam.
Under the agreement, the programme aims to promote the consumption of agricultural products through digital platforms in localities hit by COVID-19 or put under lockdown, including experimenting on Grab.
Besides, the above-mentioned agencies have to draw up plans practical plans and activities to raise awareness and capacity to implement digital transformation amongst businesses, cooperatives, family-run facilities and farmers across the country.
In the long term, the cooperation programme will serve as a pilot model to examine the effectiveness of supporting digital transformation for agricultural producers during the production, processing and consumption processes, in order to enhance of Vietnamese prpducts’ competitiveness and the promotion of domestic and international consumption markets.
Earlier, Grab announced the GrabConnect project to connect farmers with consumers nationwide to consume farm produce and safe local specialties.
