Da Nang Business Dialogue seeks proper solutions to matters of deep concern amid COVID-19

The ‘Business Dialogue’, which aims to handle some issues of deep concern to Da Nang-based businesses and seek more effective ways to drive their growth, started on Friday morning, with the participation of about 1,000 people.

The event is being co-chaired by the three municipal-level key leaders, namely municipal Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang, Party Committee Deputy Secretary cum People's Council Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet and Party Committee Deputy Secretary cum People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh.

The Dialogue offers a good opportunity for the local authorities to listen to and sort out any obstacles and difficulties facing businesses, thereby helping them promote their trade and production activities, as well as to collect their constructive opinions about furthering the city’s progress.

It is known that 150 delegates are physically present at the event, whilst and 500 - 1,000 participants are participating in the event online.

The event’s morning session witnessed constructive dialogue between the local authorities and domestic business associations. A meeting with FDI ones will be on the spotlight of the afternoon session.

Delivering the opening speech this morning, Chairman Chinh briefed the participants on features in the city’s tough COVID-19 combat. From early May to September 22, the city recorded 4,884 COVID-19 cases. So far, there have been still infections, but mainly concentrated in a narrow range and in highly controllable areas.

In fact, the application of heightened movement curbs, especially the ‘stay-at-home’ mandate applied to the city’s population in August, caused a sharp decline in some key economic sectors of the city as compared to the same period of previous years.

Accordingly, the city's total state budget revenue in the January - September period is likely to have estimated at VND15,050 billion, equal to 69.1% of the estimate assigned by the municipal People’s Council.

During the 9-month review period, the disbursement of public investment capital according to the estimate set for 2021 is predicted to have reached VND3,500 billion, reaching 50.5% and 36.7% of the targets assigned by the national and municipal governments respectively.

Despite challenges and difficulties triggered by COVID-19, businesses operating across the city have well performed their community responsibilities and joined efforts with the municipal administration to ensure sufficient provisions in terms of facilities, means of transport, treatment services and food security for all local residents over recent tough times.

Although the coronavirus resurgence may prolong in the coming time, the local authorities will proactively resolve difficulties and obstacles facing economic sectors and industries as well as local residents, with maximum support, in a great efforts to gradually boost economic recovery with an effective adaptation to the ongoing COVID-19 context.

The “health” of businesses is regarded as the leading factor determining the resilience of the local economy. Especially, the internal strength coming from domestic enterprises is of great significance, because this is an important factor that ensures the effective promotion of external resources and form a great strength for the city’s development.
