Adequate sources of vegetables and fruits ensured

With a total area of 7.5 hectares, Cam Le District-based La Huong is one of Da Nang's major organic vegetable providers. As noted, many farmers there have started to clean up, turn over the soil and sow seeds to plant vegetables in preparation for the biggest crops of the year.

When repairing the net frame, farmer Mai Van Phu said he planned to grow such short-day vegetables as lettuce, spinach, and others on an area of about 3,000m2 to prepare for increasing shopping demand of locals by the end of the year.

According to Mr. Tran Van Hoang, Director of the La Huong Organic Vegetable Production Cooperative, the cooperative provides a daily average of about one ton of vegetables, tubers and fruits of all kinds to the local market.

Similarly, hi-tech vegetable and fruit growing areas in Hoa Ninh, Hoa Phu and Hoa Khuong communes in Hoa Vang District are also busy making plans to meet the diverse needs of customers during the upcoming Lunar New Year.

Director of the GreenTech Construction JSC (GreenTech Farm) Le Van Tuan said that his farm will start to sow seeds to plant short-day vegetables and fruit about 2 months ahead of the Tet Festival 2022.

Meanwhile, as for the livestock, as of October 31, the city had a combined total of 21,789 pigs, 3,886 cows, 194,000 chickens, and 17,993 ducks and geese. However, the complicated developments of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and African swine fever has posed many difficulties and great challenges for the agricultural industry in general and livestock industry in particular.

Preparing for the year-end market

To date, major focal units and commercial centers citywide as well as the city’s industry and trade sector are developing plans to ensure the stable sources of goods to satisfy the shopping needs of local citizens at stabilized prices.

Mr Nguyen Thanh Nhuan, Director of the Central Viet Nam branch of the Viet Nam Industrial Livestock Production Company (VISSAN), revealed, the plan to supply goods for Central Viet Nam in general, and Da Nang in particular, is now ready. In particular, his company planned to stockpile 820 tonnes of goods, totalling VND70 billion, in a bid to meet the increasing demand of local residents.

He predicted that retailers in Da Nang will witness s weak consumption during the forthcoming New Year and Lunar New Year holidays as people tend to tighten their budgets due to the impact of COVID-19.

“Prices of Vissan products, however, will remain unchanged to stimulate shopping demand in the city and facilitate consumers to purchase essential items for their families” added Director Nhuan.

In recent days, between 200 and 400 tonnes of vegetables and laghim on average are supplied daily to the Hoa Cuong Wholesale Market.

According to Mr. Pham Tuan Anh, Director of the city-based Livestock and Poultry Process JSC, pork in the city is mainly sourced from such provinces as Binh Dinh and Quang Ngai. The supply of pork from now until the end of the year will be quite abundant, with little price fluctuation.

“From now until the Lunar New Year 2022, our company expects to supply a daily average of 900-1,000 pigs to the market, so people should not worry about lack of pork" Mr. Tuan Anh said.

Vietnamese goods to go to Da Nang’s mountainous communes

In order to meet the shopping needs of local residents and create opportunities for local businesses to access the rural market, the Da Nang Industry and Trade Promotion Center plans to organize 3 fairs highlighting the sales of Vietnamese goods in mountainous communes in Hoa Vang District.

Specifically, a fair ran from November 12 - 14 at the headquarters of the Hoa Bac Commune People's Committee, Hoa Vang District, Da Nang.

The similar ones will take place at Hoa Ninh Commune’s stadium from November 19 - 21 and at the Hoa Vang District Culture, Information and Sports Centre in Hoa Tien Commune from December 3 - 5.

These events will feature 75 booths from 55 production enterprises and distributors nationwide in the fields of food and beverages, processed and canned food, confectionery, cosmetics and household appliances.
