Da Nang elevates development of industrial, commercial infrastructure

Addressing a meeting on January 6, 2022 held by the Steering Board for Da Nang Planning for the 2021 – 2030 period, with a vision towards 2050, Standing Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Committee cum Standing Deputy Head of the Steering Committee Ho Ky Minh underlined a must-do to raise the level of industrial and commercial infrastructure development in the city.

With regard to the development of the Da Nang Master Plan for the 2021 – 2030 period, with a vision towards 2050 for its submission to the Prime Minister for approval in the second quarter of 2022, Standing Vice Chairman Minh agreed to integrate some contents into the project.

In detail, the municipal People's Committee has assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to coordinate with other relevant agencies to make suggestions to the municipal administration about the current status and infrastructure development orientation at industrial zones and clusters for the change of land use purpose at the 50.6 ha Tho Quang Fishery Industrial Park.

Another task is to propose proper sites to construct new industrial clusters, including ones producing building materials.

In terms of commerce development, heed will be paid to adjusting and supplementing a number of contents related to the trade in goods such as traditional markets, wholesale markets, supermarkets and trade centre, e-commerce, import and export, and logistics.

As planned, each local district will see the development of one or two trade centres and supermarkets, whilst each ward and commune will have at least one traditional market.

The Da Nang government agreed to keep the existing Da Nang International Exhibition and Convention Centre unchanged in tandem with making a plan to develop a Grade A international exhibition centre after 2030 in Hoa Vang District. The aim is to meet the needs and scale of the city's socio-economic development as a hub in the central key economic zone, as well as the Central Region- Central Highlands regions in the long-term vision.

Also, a logistics centre will take the shape at the Tien Sa Port and marinas will be developed along the Han River, around the Son Tra Peninsula, the location of the old Ocean Park, the Da Nang Bay and Cu De River.

When it comes to the current status and development orientation of the local information and communication industry, focus will be on five areas, namely postal, telecommunications, press, broadcasting, information technology, telecommunications, smart city building and digital conversion.

As for the development orientations of the telecommunications industry, the roadmap and plans for putting telecommunications cables underground will be built up.

Also importantly, telecommunications projects are expected to be carried out in 2025 - 2030 period, with a vision towards 2050.

In particular, it is recommended that the Da Nang Master Plan will be present on the GIS map so that the all local agencies can implement sectoral development plans on this planning map.

Standing Vice Chairman Minh also directed the planning of the local sectors to be studied in association with one another, and integration into the city’s Master Plan.
