Addressing the Wednesday meeting to review the work performance of the Da Nang transportation sector in 2021 and set its key tasks for 2022, Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairman Le Quang Nam highly appreciated its achievements recorded over the past year, especially in completing the targets and tasks and contributing to stabilising the socio-economic situation.

Vice Chairman Nam proposed the local transport sector to assume the prime responsibility and coordinate with other relevant agencies in order to speed up the progress and ensure the quality of key transport works and projects in the city, thus creating a driving force to leverage the city's socio-economic development.

In addition, heed should be paid to reducing the number of accidents, deaths and injuries, accelerating the building of the local public transport system and implementing support measures to ensure the circulation of transporting goods for consumption and production.

As reported, in 2021, the Da Nang transport sector achieved many important results such as coordinating with the municipal Department of Construction to submit to the Prime Minister for approval the adjustments to the Da Nang Master Plan by 2030, with a vision towards 2045, formulating a plan to adjust the planning of the Da Nang International Airport for the 2021- 2030 period with a vision towards  2050, and integrating the transportation planning into the Da Nang Master Plan during the 2021 - 2030 period with orientations towards 2050.

Also, the Department of Transport has submitted to the municipal People's Committee for approval a project to research, evaluate and adjust the overall status network of intra-city and adjacent bus routes connecting Da Nang with neighbouring Quang Nam province and many other projects.

As for its tasks set for 2022, the Da Nang transport sector will continue to mobilise and effectively use resources to develop synchronous and highly-focused transport infrastructure, combined with effective management of the transport infrastructure system, strengthen connectivity and regional linkage, and step by step build the city to truly become an important traffic hub for domestic and international transshipment.

The industry will strive to complete the key tasks assigned by the municipal administration, thus contributing to the effective implementation of the theme “2022- the year of safe, flexible adaptation and effective control of COVID-19 and socio-economic recovery and development”.

On this occasion, the Da Nang Department of Transport were awarded with a certificate of merit from the Prime Minister's and emulation flags from Ministry of Transport and the Da Nang People's Committee.
