The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday evening held a webinar to discuss economic diplomacy in 2022. Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Ho Ky Minh chaired the Da Nang broadcast point.

Addressing the event, Standing Vice Chairman Minh said that, in 2021, in the face of the complicated developments of COVID-19, many Vietnamese representative agencies abroad have supported Da Nang to organise and participate in many events which aimed to connect with international partners in the virtual form.

These events served as an opportunity for Da Nang to promote its image, development potential, strengths and investment environment to foreign partners.

The year 2022 is a milestone marking the 25-year outstanding journey of Da Nang acting as centrally-governed city and sees the city accelerate the implementation of the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress and the 22th Congress of the municipal Party Committee.

In order to achieve its above - mentioned goals as well as the theme for 2022 which is ‘The year of safe and flexible adaptation to, and effective control of COVID-19 and socio-economic recovery and development’, Da Nang is in need of even more support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnamese representative agencies abroad and other relevant national agencies to promote its investment environment to potential partners in such key foreign markets as the U.S., Japan, India, Republic of Korea, Taiwan (China) and some European countries.

The aim is to attract more FDI flows into its Hi-tech and concentrated IT parks, and a number of other big projects such as the construction of the Lien Chieu Port and the development of an international marina, the Da Nang university urban area and a senior care centre.

Also, the city would like these aforementioned national agencies to support it to promote post-COVID-19 tourism cooperation in a number of important markets such as Russia, Republic Korea, Japan, China, Singapore, Thailand and some European countries.

As reported by the Department of Foreign Affairs, the approved Da Nang Economic Diplomacy Project for the 2021 - 2025 period comprises seven groups of key tasks, in order to take advantage of all resources to promote the local economic development, accelerate the process of economic restructuring, create new driving force for the local growth and sustainable development, strengthen research, promote international cooperation, promote the city’s image, actively advocate for aids, mobilise overseas Vietnamese, enlist the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and boost human resource development.

According to a report released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in 2022, the world economic recovery is forecasted to be in a positive direction. The trend of flexibly adapting and safely living with COVID-19 will open up favourable conditions for production and business activities.
