Da Nang enhances competitiveness, make effective use of RCEP

The Da Nang People's Committee has just issued a plan to implement the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), which became effective from January 1.

Accordingly, the main task is to strengthen the dissemination and communication of the RCEP and legal documents to be amended, supplemented, annulled or promulgated to implement the RCEP for the three target subject groups through the media, websites, publications, documents, radio and television programmes, training classes, conferences, seminars and dialogues.

The beneficiary groups are the business community, especially micro, small, medium- sized enterprises, industry associations, cooperatives; civil servants, public employees and employees working at State management agencies; other labour sectors.

The municipal People's Committee assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to act as the focal point and coordinate with both other national and local agencies to implement the RCEP, ensure the effective and complete implementation of the agreement at the local level.

At the same time, there is a need to closely monitor the import and export situation to take timely response measures to protect Viet Nam's interests, in accordance with the provisions of the RCEP’s regulations and domestic laws.

Another focus will be on restructuring the agricultural sector, digital transformation, applying science and technology, advanced production models towards improving product quality, protecting the environment, traceability, meeting domestic and international standards.

It is also a need to effectively implement trade-investment promotion programmes in countries joining the RCEP, introduce the business community of other countries about the opportunities and advantages of the investment business environment of Viet Nam, and Da Nang in particular, and map out an appropriate plan to attract capital from RCEP member countries in key areas.

The city will strengthen training in specialized skills for enterprises in strategic planning, research and exploitation of member markets, implement policies to support enterprises to participate in value chains, global supply chains, innovation, digital transformation; and to promote the connection with those from the partner countries participating in the RCEP.
