Da Nang refreshes its tourism products to lure visitors back
Da Nang is launching campaigns to promote it as an attractive destination for domestic and forein travellers in addition to preparing itself for the return of tourists.

According to the Da Nang Department of Tourism, many predict that 2022 is likely to be the year tourism industry in Da Nang, and Viet Nam at large, will rebound from the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic with remarkable recovery. With positive scenario for the COVID-19 recovery of Da Nang’s tourism sector, the number of tourist arrivals in the city is expected to reach 3.5 million, 3 times higher than last year, of whom, 180,000 are foreigners, 1.6 times more than the previous year, and more than 3.32 million are domestic travellers, 3 times more than last year.
Sun World Ba Na Hills which is a must-visit resort and recreational complex in Da Nang is ready to reopen on March 18.
Mr. Nguyen Lam An, the Director of Sun World Ba Na Hills Resort, said that apart from upgrading and beautifying the landscape, the resort is recruiting additional staff members to ensure the highest quality of its service.
Currently, the resort is rushing to complete many new items and works in order to improve visitor experience in this site. The Ba Na Castle which is an example is scheduled to open to the public on April 30, and this new place will host musical performances and Carnival parades to entertain visitors. In its efforts to attract more visitors, the resort is offering a special discount on its entrance tickets.
In a similar move, many tourist resorts across the city, including the Water Park 365 entertainment complex at the Da Nang Mikazuki Resorts and Spa, and Nui Than Tai Hot Springs Park, also lower their daily ticket prices.
Besides, such new attractions as the APEC Sculpture Garden and many new items developed at the Yen Retreat Tourist Site located in Hoa Bac Commune, Hoa Vang District become emerging destinations for local residents and tourists.
Moreover, the Marble Mountains, the Museum of Da Nang, the Museum of Cham Sculpture, the Museum of Fine Arts, and the Hoang Sa Exhibition House are free for everyone to visit until late 2022.
Data published by the municipal Department of Tourism shows that about 50% of the city’s tourist accommodation establishments have re-opened their doors, of which, more than 40 are hotels with three stars and above are giving their special offer for their guests with 20 to 50% off hotel room rates.
In particular, 16 tourist accommodation establishments, 3 tourist attractions, 25 transportation service providers, 1 food service establishment, 1 entertainment place and 1 golf course have been approved by the Da Nang government to join the city’s pilot sheme to welcome international tourists back.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Binh, the Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Tourism, said that Da Nang’s tourism sector focuses on increasing its value, improving the visitor experience, and improving tourist convenience. Specifically, the municipal Department of Tourism is launching marketing campaigns to promote the city as an attractive destination for domestic and international travellers through different types of media, such as television, radio, print, and online platforms in order to keep up with the latest travel trends and suit all of its guests' tastes. In addition, the heed is paid to taking advantage of the online platform at Danang Fantascity to promote local tourism, and implementing measures to encourage travellers arriving into Da Nang.
The city continues taking action to retrieve MICE tourism by issuing incentive policies for MICE travelers in a bid to attract more visitors both at home and abroad in 2022.
Incentive policies for MICE delegations to Da Nang came into effect in February and will end in late December 2022. The support policies for MICE tourists will focus on organizing welcoming ceremonies and presenting souvenir gifts for MICE tourists, and offering tourist attraction tickets, along with assistance and consultancy. MICE delegations consisting of 50, 150, 300 and 700 people or more will enjoy benefits from these support policies.
In its efforts to increase attractiveness and image recognition of Da Nang as a tourism destination in a competitive context, Da Nang has worked with Quang Nam Province to ask for permit from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to allow the two localities to together offer their authorised tourism services for international tourists. Travel agencies has launched Da Nang tours under 7 days since the beginning of 2022 in a bid to increase tourist arrivals in the city amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hosting Routes Asia 2022 in June will offer great opportunities for Da Nang to resume international flights, which in turn spurring international trade and resuming international tourism. Routes Asia will provide a golden opportunity for Da Nang to market the city at both the aviation and tourism markets in Asia, and the world at large.
