Make a difference right from the start
After 10 years of development, a chain of Thai restaurants named ‘Thai Market’ has become familiar to many Da Nang residents.
37-year-old Le Thai Hoang, the founder of this brand name, affirmed that such popular Thai dishes as Pad Thai (Thai Stir-Fried Noodles), Tom Yum Kung (Spicy Thai Shrimp Soup), Som Tam (Central Thai-Style Green Papaya Salad), and King Chae Nam Pla (Raw Prawn Salad) are now available at all his Thai restaurants.
Telling about being charmed with Thai food, Hoang said he chose Thai recipes because they looked very attractive and shared many similarities with Vietnamese cuisine.
Hoang spent his spare time on travelling to around Thailand in order to try this country’s specialities. Through his trips to Thailand, he took the initiative to create his own recipes for Thai dishes to suit Vietnamese people’s taste.
Hoang said Thai Market used 100% spices sourced from Chiang Mai (Thailand) to keep the traditional flavours of Thai people, and at the same time created closer links with some fishermen in Da Nang to get fresh and quality ingredients.
Starting a business with the slogan ‘Delicious food cooked with lots of love and care’, Hoang gradually professionalised in food service and presentation.
Sharing about his future plans, the man revealed that Thai Market would seize the opportunities of the new normal to add many new dishes to serve diners, as well as would always innovate, create, assert its own style to develop.
With her special love for flowers and ornamental plants, Nguyen Thi Phuc My, a female resident of Son Tra District’s Tho Quang Ward, embarked on a business path when she decided to open a flower shop named ‘Mymyviet Garden’.
My used to be the owner of a flower shop which specialised in providing flowers for conferences and meetings costing tens of millions of VND, but then she gave up her business due to failures.
After that, the young girl actively got involved in providing potted flowers and decorating flower pots and plants as gifts according to the needs of customers.
“Mymyviet Garden helps customers create beautiful, unique and feng shui plants. In addition to the beautiful, durable and suitable elements, we pay attention to the layout and aesthetics of each product" said My.
My registered to join in the Da Nang Women’s Union-launched ‘Supporting women’s startups’ project (also known as Project No.939) during the 2017-2025 period with the start-up idea of ‘Mymyviet Garden’.
According to My, in order to gain more experience, she is not afraid to source some new plant varieties from China, South Korea and Thailand, then making them fit to survive in Central Viet Nam.
Currently, the shop has successfully transplanted colorful paper flowers and porcelain flowers at low prices, creating a stable source of customers.
Mymyviet Garden brings My a lot of joy and experience. Over the years, the little girl constantly learns about planting and transplanting techniques to produce new and better quality products.
Mymyviet Garden has also expanded its business premises to 500m2 from 110m2 on Tran Thanh Tong Street in Son Tra District.
“I have encountered many failures during my business, but there is nothing like doing what I love. To protect consumers' health, I say no to chemicals and chemical fertilisers in the process of planting and taking care of trees" noted she.
Don't be afraid to change
As handicraft production has opened up opportunities for many young people to get rich, Le Nhu Tham from Quang Tri Province, the owner of the RAM Leather shop in Hai Chau District’s Thanh Binh Ward, used to have nearly 10 years of experience in the banking sector before moving to Da Nang for starting a leather business.
Starting with a small amount of capital, up to now, RAM Leather has launched thousands of quality and trendy handmade leather accessories, including watch straps, wallets, and phone bags.
Currently, Tham is trying to make handmade leather shoes with two criteria of luxury and simplicity.
Most notably, all of RAM Leather products are made of 100% natural cowhide, and benign and non-toxic dyes.
In an effort to attract more customers, Tham has spent time on learning about trends of potential customers, as well as on improving designs and quality of his leather products.
It is known that with a stable source of customers, RAM Leather has developed 8 agents in Ha Noi, Ha Nam, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, and Thua Thien Hue.
Moreover, in order to make a difference in customer care, RAM Leather encourages customers to dye their own favourite leather color.
“Last time, many customers come to RAM Leather to choose products and color them by themselves. In my opinion, the fact that customers dye their wallets and watch bands by themselves will make products more meaningfulness to users" analysed Tham.
Similarly, Pham Thi Hai Duong used to work for the Da Nang Writers' Association before switching to manufacturing and trading backpacks and bags made of old jeans.
She said that she was attracted by the textures and materials of jeans. At first, she made backpacks and bags to serve her personal use, but she got so many compliments as posting her products on her facebook page.
From this positive signal, Duong decided to make unique and strange backpacks and bags to serve those who love recycled products. Aside from products for women, she uses jeans fabric to create cup liners, chair linings, doormats, and pot linings.
Duong remarked that the jeans material is quite durable, less fading and less elastic, so it is suitable for making bags. Apart from using available materials, she is willing to accept old jeans from customers and create quality and fashionable products.
Currently, Hai Duong's products are very diverse, from backpacks, bucket bags with two straps, square bags, maternity bags to bucket backpacks, and crossbody bags. She also regularly opens workshops to teach people how to sew by themselves based on available sourced of jeans.
