Da Nang gears up lifting mechanical industry to new heights

The Da Nang Mechanical Association under the Da Nang Union of Science and Technology Associations has organised a seminar entitled ‘Mechanical Industry in the Fourth Industrial Revolution’.

As reported at the event, the capacity, technical level and technology of the mechanical engineering industry in the city is still limited as compared to other industrial centres. The city's mechanical industry also faces many challenges of the burgeoning Fourth Industrial Revolution.

With regards to orientations towards 2030, the city's mechanical engineering industry will focus on applying modern techniques and technologies, improving production capacity and competitiveness and expanding the consumption market for traditional mechanical products.

Also importantly, importance will be attached to speeding up the development of manufacturing and assembling cars and other means of transport with key products such as tourist cars, yachts, large-capacity boats for offshore fishing and logistics service ships.

Appeals will be made for investment flows into developing industrial production to support the local mechanical industry, in which priority is given to the production and assembly of components, spare parts and details.

At the same time, the city will limit attracting investment in new projects on construction steel production, as well as promote in-depth investment into technological innovation, product quality improvement, thoroughly solving environmental pollution problems and pioneer in manufacturing equipment in the renewable energy industry such as solar and wind power.

Addressing the event, experts active in the field of mechanical engineering also exchanged their points of view about a number of issues such as the development strategy of the national key mechanical engineering industry, the applications of science and technologies amid Industry 4.0, as well as advantages and disadvantages of mechanical enterprises in the city.
