It's high time for Da Nang to boost industrial and rural handicraft production

For many years now, Hoa Vang District in Da Nang has focused on developing industrial and rural handicraft production in order to contribute to promoting the entire city’s economy, especially the private sector.

Actively producing local industrial products

The Bich Hanh Technology JSC, based in Hoa Nhon Commune, Hoa Vang District, Da Nang, is an enterprise specialising in manufacturing electrical panels and electrical equipment with more than 10 years of operation.

Along with its self-effort to overcome difficulties, the enterprise has received the kind attention and support policies from Hoa Vang District authorities, the Centre for Industry and Trade Promotion under the municipal Department of Industry and Trade.

Up to now, the company has gradually affirmed its position in the market, becoming a reputable supplier of electrical products and equipment for many domestic and foreign partners.

Huynh Ngoc Trung, Director of Bich Hanh Technology Joint Stock Company, said that currently, 80% of the company's business market share is in the domestic market whilst the remaining 20% is in some countries in the Southeast region.

To meet the long-term development strategy, in addition to setting sight on expanding domestic and export markets, the company has taken a bold move to invest in new machinery to increase capacity and modernise products.

According to a report released by the Hoa Vang District People's Committee, by the end of 2021, the industrial and rural handicraft production has created jobs for 4,273 employees, an increase of 347 as compared to 2016.

The value of industrial and rural handicraft production has risen at on average 12.9%/year.
In 2020, the industrial production value in the district reached VND3,015 billion, up 1.62 times compared to 2016.

Of this, the high-value industries include the production of construction materials, mineral exploration, agricultural product processing, food, steel production, steel billet, garment manufacturing and processing.

Many support solutions taken

In order to support enterprises in the field of industrial and rural handicraft production, over the past time, the Hoa Vang District administration has implemented the project of developing industrial and rural handicraft production, trade - services in the district in the 2021 - 2025 period.

The district has accelerated the implementation of procedures related to infrastructure investment in Hoa Son split stone village to arrange production premises for family-run businesses here.

Many favourable conditions have created for enterprises to participate in investment and production development in the district, thus giving a facelift to industrial and trade promotion activities.

On the basis of the implementation of the Industrial Promotion Programme in22 implemented by the municipal Department of Industry and Trade, the Economic and Infrastructure Division of the district has proposed the application of machinery and equipment, the transfer of advanced technology into industrial and rural handicraft production for 8 units with a total amount of nearly VND6.3 billion.

Mr. Le Thanh Ha, the Director of the Da Nang Centre for Industrial and Trade Promotion, acknowledged that Hoa Vang District is a key area in the implementation of national and local industrial promotion programmes.

Accordingly, focus is placed on supporting industrial establishments to innovate and perfecte equipment and machinery to improve production capacity, productivity and product quality.

As a result, many industrial and handicraft establishments and family-run businesses in the district have produced many new product lines to meet the growing demands of the market.

According to a report recently released by th Hoa Vang District People's Committee, the whole district now has over 1,100 industrial production establishments, an increase of 151 as compared to 2016.

In terms of structure classified by economic sectors, there are 1,103 industrial production establishments in non-state economic sector, accounting for 99.8% of the total number of establishments, mainly family-run units, 111 organisations – enterprises, and 2 foreign-invested establishments,

With regard to the structure identified by main industries, beverage production has the largest number of establishments with 241, accounting for 21.8%; textile, apparel production with 184 establishments, making up for 16.6%; leather and related products production with 154 ones (13.9%); manufacturing products from other non-metallic minerals with 110 ones (9.9%); manufacturing products from prefabricated metal with 136 ones, (12.3%); manufacturing beds, cabinets - tables - chairs with 128 ones (11.5%).
