National gov't gives nod to planning of North Central and Central Coast regions

Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh has just approved the task of formulating the planning for the North Central and Central Coast regions for the 2021 - 2030 region, with a vision towards 2050.

The objective of the planning is to concretise the socio-economic directions, tasks, goals and solutions for the North Central and Central Coast regions that are set forth in the 10-year National Socio-economic Development Strategy in the 2021 - 2030 period.

In detail, focus will be on strongly developing the marine economy in combination with ensuring national defence and security at sea, especially offshore fishing and aquaculture; restructuring agriculture, forestry, exploitation, aquaculture, seafood in association with processing industry and ensuring sustainability and high efficiency.

As for other tasks, sight wil be set on improving the development efficiency of economic zones, industrial parks of refining, petrochemical, metallurgy, automobile production and assembly; fast yet synchronously developing clean energy, renewable energy; strengthening regional linkages, continuously developing a system of coastal urban centres, marine and eco-tourism centres of regional and international statures; effectively promoting the East - West Economic Corridor; giving a facelift to seaports and seaport services, infrastructure and logistics service centres for fisheries.

Heed will be paid to improving capacity to prevent, combat and minimise damage caused by natural disasters, storms, floods, droughts, and proactively and effectively responding to climate change, combating desertification, riverbank and coastal erosion.

It is also a need to build the coastal urban system of the region into economic centres in the region acting as the driver of the economic development of the whole region and surrounding areas.

The Deputy Prime Minister underlined a must-do to ensure the participation of relevant agencies and organisations in the formulation and implementation of the master plan and collecting constructive opinions and ideas from the general public, social sectors, businesses and communities related to regional development.
