E-invoicing is important in helping organizations streamline their invoice processing cycles, reducing the man-hours required for invoice processing, approving, tracking, and chasing invoices and human errors. . Implementing it ultimately results in a much faster turnaround time.

E-Invoicing has become one of the most strategic steps companies are taking towards digitization of processing cycles.

Nearly a year since using e-invoices, the managerial job as well as the storage of invoices at Lien Chieu district-Mayaca Coffee One Member Co., Ltd ( has become simpler.

Mr. Ho Duc Tien, the Director of the company, said that, in the past, accountants spent huge amount of time spent on handling a large number of paper-based invoices.

Still worse, if a Value-added Tax invoice is nowhere to be found, once surprisingly inspected by tax authorities, the company may be fined from VND1 million to VND10 million, depending on the severity.

Similarly, Ms. Nguyen Thi My Lien, Director of Chau Thong Manufacturing and Trading Service Co., Ltd. shared: “In the past, I still faced problems with software, signing and sealing, but the Da Nang Tax Department has till date provided me with specific instructions. Every year, we release several thousands of bills. The application of e-invoices helps the company reduce the cost of printing such a large invoice number, and the e-invoices are directly sentto the customer's email instead of us having to use a courier service”.

It is known that Da Nang is one of the 57 Vietnamese provinces and cities implementing Phase 2 of the national project on the application of e-invoicing from April 2022.

In order to ensure the implementation of e-invoicing on schedule, the Da Nang Tax Department has actively advised the municipal People's Committee to establish a Steering Committee and a Standing Group to deploy the application of e-invoices to organise the unified implementation in the city from March 2022.

Also, the municipal Tax Department and its regional Tax Sub-departments have released hotlines to support taxpayers in declaring e-invoices.

According to data from the municipal Tax Department, Da Nang now houses more than 33,000 still-operating businesses, of which the total number of taxpayers required to register to use e-invoices is 22,856.

As of March 31, there had been 15,450 taxpayers using e-invoices according to Circular No. 32/2011/TT-BTC dated March 14, 2011 of the Ministry of Finance guiding the creation, issuance and use of e-invoices in selling goods and providing services.

Da Nang is striving to reach a target that, by May 31, 80% of the total businesses that have yet to register for e-invoices must complete the registration for the use of e-invoices according to Decree No. 123/2020/ND- CP and Circular No. 78/2021/TT-BTC, and then 100% by June 15.

Mr. Truong Cong Khoai, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Tax Department, said that, instructions on the e- invoice policy and common problems encountered when using e-invoices are available on the official website of the Department.

Also, the list of enterprises providing e-invoice services in the city, meeting the requirements and conditions and in accordance with regulations on management and use of e-invoices is also displayed on the website.

Businesses are highly recommended to choose quality e-invoice suppliers to ensure data storage and good security.

According to Mr. Khoai, that is an important task of the tax industry and the financial industry as a whole, and is also an indicator in the city’s digital transformation orientation of Da Nang.

Over the past 2 months, the municipal Tax Department has organised dozens of seminars and training sessions to support businesses on issues related to e-invoicing, and at the same time, it has actively coordinated to with other relevant agencies to successfully complete the “coverage’ of e-invoices.

The deployment of the e-invoicing system plays an important role in building big data, contributing to developing the e-Government and reforming State management.
