Da Nang develops tourism development project inland waterways

The Da Nang government has issued a decision approving the outline and cost estimate for the implementation of a project for developing inland waterway tourism in the city to 2030, with a vision towards 2045.

Accordingly, the project is expected to cost more than VND600 million from the tourism expenditure estimate assigned in 2022 by the municipal Department of Tourism.

The municipal Department of Tourism shall assume the prime responsibility for, and coordinate with relevant local agencies in implementing the aforementioned project in accordance with the regulations.

By 2030, the city will complete the master plan on the development of waterway tourism to effectively tap its great potential and create attractive and unique main tourism products, infrastructure systems, facilities, tourist boat fleets, accompanied services and specific rest stops in a great effort to develop waterway tourism meeting high quality, safe and professional standards.

With orientations towards 2045, the city will develop infrastructure and effectively tap inland waterway routes as planned in the 2030 - 2045 period, promote waterway network from shore to inter-island linking with localities in the South, the North and the Central Viet Nam-Central Highlands, and exploit marina tourism operations as well.

Specific objectives are to develop the non-smoke industry in the whole city in association with forms of sea-based tourism, inland waterway tourism, community-based, eco-tourism, cultural, historical, spiritual and healthcare tourism.

Attention will be paid to comprehensively exploiting 9 inland waterway tourism routes from shore to islands as previously approved.

In particular, the Song Han (Han River) Port will be upgraded into a major tourist port of international standards.

By 2030, the city will strive to reach a target of annual inland waterway tourist numbers standing at 1.5 - 2 million.
