With its great efforts, Da Nang tourism is on track for a strong comeback tin 2022 after a hiatus triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic. This is an optimistic signal, creating motivation for the city's spearhead economic sector to regain its growth momentum like before the pandemic rage.

Only in the recent 4-day holiday break for the National Reunification Day (April 30) and the International Workers’ Day (May 1), Da Nang welcomed more than 254,000 visitors, 3.4 times higher than the figure reported in the same period in 2021. 246,600 of them were domestic visitors, up 3.3 times whilst the remaining 7,400 were international ones, up nearly 16 times from the same period last year.

Previously, the city had held a series of events to welcome the resumption of the first two international routes connecting Da Nang with Thailand and Singapore, a hot air balloon festival, and especially, the ‘Enjoy Da Nang’ tourism stimulus programme

Besides, accommodation facilities, resorts and tourist attractions throughout the city have also resumed their operation, and likewise, travel agencies are now busy rebounding relationships with their partnets, building new products to serve tourists.

Notably, tourist arrivals to Da Nang in April 2022 increased sharply. Revenue from accommodation and food services in April 2022 reached VND 1,486.9 billion, up 31.2% over the previous month and 1.9% over the same period last year.

Also in the first 4 months of 2022, revenue from accommodation and food services hit about VND 4,596 billion, equaling 81.8% over the same period last year.

The total number of guests served by accommodation facilities is estimated at 618,300.

Revenue from travel and tourism support activities in April 2022 was estimated at VND138.5 billion, 3 times higher than the previous month and up 60.5% over the same period last year.

As accumulated, in the first 4 months of 2022, revenue from travel and tourism support activities stood at VND 250.5 billion, equalling 77.5% over the same period last year.

The above impressive numbers show that visitors have felt an attractive Da Nang with good preparation for welcome guests back.

It can be believed that Da Nang tourism is really recovering, with streets being busy again, shops and restaurants crowded with customers, tourist attractions bustling with visitors coming in/out, all blowing a new life into the tourist city.

Obviously, it is the great effort of the whole political system, the city authorities at all levels. Da Nang is very interested in building tourism products and renewing existing ones. For example, renewing activities of the sea tourism season to increase the experience for visitors or creating more entertainment spots at night during the past holiday through the opening of An Thuong tourist street and My An night beach.

Here, visitors can experience dining services, go shopping, relax and enjoy art shows at night after a long day of touring around the city.

Businesses are also interested in investing in new unique tourism products such as tours to contemplate the city from above by helicopter or create new check-in points that are attractive to tourists, especially those the young.

The above-mentioned figures are just the beginning of the tourism recovery in the city.

Looking upon the past, at the peak of tourism in 2019, Da Nang welcomed about 8.6 million visitors, including about 3.5 million foreign ones.

To return to the pre-COVID-19 development period, the tourism industry must have a lot of work to do such as creating an attractive destination by continuously adding new tourism products, maintaining the tourism environment as well as ensuring the quality of tourism services.

The city's tourism industry is also making efforts to revive tourism activities by focusing on key tasks to improve tourism quality, prepare human resources, ensure service quality assurance, create new products, guarantee safety of visitors and organise many major events on culture, tourism and sports of international stature such as Routes Asia 2022 and Asian Golf Tournament 2022…

Hopefully, the ceaseless efforts of the local authorities and businesses will bring new confidence to tourism, one of Da Nang's key economic sectors, thereby helping it recover soon and get growth momentum for the local economy in the coming time.
