Da Nang to develop key markets along Han River, eastern bank to serve tourism
The Da Nang government has given a nod to the establishment of tourist destination markets in the city in the 2021 - 2050 period.
Accordingly, by 2030, Da Nang will form a system of modern tourist attractions with its own identity of a developed urban area in Viet Nam, ensuring the provision of goods, services and tourism products, specifically making Da Nang become one of the commercial and tourist centres of the country, contributing to developing trade, and especially tourism, into a spearhead industry, hereby making a high contribution to the city's GRDP (gross regional domestic product) structure.
By 2050, Da Nang eyes to build a system of market spots serving high-class and modern tourism, but still bearing the distinctive identity of a developed urban area in Viet Nam, fulfill the mission of providing goods, services, specific tourism products to both locals and residents so that the city can become a highly competitive commercial and service center, a leading destination for tourists with high-class tourism services, with its own identity, the tourist centre of Asia and the hub of conferences, events, festivals of regional and international stature.
By 2030, the city will form a system of tourist attractions with 11 markets to be selected, but mainly in the areas along the Han River and the east bank (Son Tra - Ngu Hanh Son coast), including Han, Con, Bac My An and An Hai Bac markets, satisfy the criteria of tourist destination markets, perform the function of a traditional market and a tourist service point in the direction of modernity.
In particular, focus will be on renovating or upgrading 7 tourist markets and building 5 new ones, developing product strategies, developing human resources towards professionalism.
By 2050, the Nai Hien and Seafood markets will be upgraded in service for tourism. These markets will help to increase the total system of tourist serving markets to 13.
In the immediate future, Da Nang will promote the development of the domestic market as a pillar in the 2021 - 2025 period. Next is to pay attention to developing the international tourist market for the 2026 - 2030 period.
Funding for the construction of the new markets targeting tourists is from the State budget, donations from small businesses and other legal sources.
