According to Vice Chairman Minh, Da Nang has recorded many big strides during its growth process over the past years, gradually affirming the position of a modern, civilised and liveable city in Central Viet Nam, and the country as a whole.

Tourism industry has become one of the city’s spearhead economic sectors with a boom in investment projects and international quality services, thereby helping Da Nang gradually become an attractive, safe and friendly destination for visitors at both home and abroad.

With its policy of safe and flexible adaptation to, and effective control of, COVID-19, and socio-economic recovery and development, Da Nang has issued and implemented a number of support policies for tourism firms in a bid to drive the city’s post-pandemic tourism recovery, improve service quality, and develop a series of new and unique tourism products and services.

Particularly, the expanded APEC Sculpture Park and the Da Nang - Ly Son inland waterway tourism route have been put into operation. Meanwhile, night-time entertainment activities along the My An Beach, and many special cultural and tourism events have been launched.

Most notably, Da Nang has also recorded positive recovery in the fields of tourism, accommodation and food and beverage since the first quarter of the year.

Many tourist attractions citywide have welcomed a large number of visitors. The room occupancy rate at local hotels and resorts on weekends has reached 70-75%.

The tourism industry’s revenue in the first half of the year is estimated to have gone up by 41% over the same period last year. Revenue generated from accommodation services in the second quarter of this year is likely to have increased 2.8 times compared with the same period last year.

Since the city allowed the full resumption of tourism activities in March 2022, as many as 35,000 foreign passengers have arrived in Da Nang on 286 flights. In particular, on June 24 alone, the city welcomed 120 domestic and international flights, surpassing the highest mark of 2019.

In the second half of the year, 15 airlines plan to resume international routes from such foreign countries as South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Japan and Malaysia to Da Nang.

To seize opportunities from a fresh wave of tourism after COVID-19, Da Nang is facing the challenge of renewing itself and identifying ways to maintain its attractiveness in the eyes of tourists in order to deserve its title of worth-visiting city.

During the seminar, participating delegates offered a host of solutions for Da Nang to achieve its dual goals of being both a tourist city with diverse and classy experiences, and worth-visiting, worth-living and worth-investing city with world-class scale and facilities.

Also, discussions at the event focused on ways to help the city attract sources of quality and high-class tourists and investors to local tourism and entertainment projects, as well as perfect its mechanisms and policies to optimally exploit its advantages in terms of geographical location, infrastructure, development space, and more. The purpose was to help Da Nang attract high-quality human resources, develop its urban space in the vision of developing a smart urban chain connected with Vietnamese and international urban areas during the 2030 - 2045 period.
