Da Nang CPI in July up 0.93%
The latest figures released from the Da Nang General Statistics Office show that Da Nang’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) in July increased by 0.93% as compared to the previous month, and up 4.92% over the same period last year.
On average, in 7 months, CPI increased by 2.34% compared to the average of the same period in 2021. Compared to June, 8 out of the 11 main groups of goods and services recorded an increase in CPI, namely: apparel, hats and footwear up by 2.59%; housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials 2.41%; culture, entertainment and tourism 1.71%; household appliances 1.63%; other goods and services 1.58%; catering goods and services 1.17%; beverages and tobacco 1.07%; medicine and health services 0.03%.
Only the traffic group decreased by 3.41% compared to the previous month. Education and telecommunications groups recorded stable CPI.
A CPI hike was mainly attributed to an increase in gasoline prices, input material costs, and transportation costs and related expenses over the past months, and this drove the price of food and services to go up.
In addition, hot weather causes people's demand for electricity and water to increase, leading to a rise in electricity and water usage costs. However, gasoline also decreased 2 times in a row in July, the retail price of gas also adjusted down, so the traffic group decreased as compared to the previous month.
