The Da Nang People's Committee in collaboration with the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand organised the Thailand - Da Nang Business Connection Forum 2022 in the city on Monday.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Phan Chi Thanh, Vice Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (OV) Affairs under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ngo Huong Nam, and Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairwoman Ngo Thi Kim Yen, made their attendance at the event.

In her opening speech delivered at the forum, Vice Chairwoman Yen said that it was an honour for Da Nang to be chosen as a destination to promote investment, trade and tourism by the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand and the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (OV) Affairs.

She expressed her belief that the forum would promote friendship and cooperation in many aspects between Da Nang and Thai partners, hereby contributing to strengthening the bilateral relations between Viet Nam and Thailand.

Mrs. Yen informed that, in March 2022, Da Nang fully reopened to international tourists in order to drive its post-pandemic economic recovery. She believed that Da Nang has always been a reliable destination for not only Thai partners but also other international friends.

Therefore, she asked for support from agencies, organisations and businesses, especially overseas Vietnamese businesses in Thailand, to help Da Nang promote its available potential and sustainable development.

“We believe that overseas Vietnamese in Thailand, and those in foreign countries as a whole, always act as a reliable bridge to connect the overseas Vietnamese community worldwide to contribute to the construction and development of Viet Nam” emphasized Mrs. Yen.

Speaking at the forum, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Phan Chi Thanh said over the past time, the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand has received enthusiastic support from leaders of the People's Committee and departments and branches of Da Nang in organising this forum.

He noted the central coastal city was the first destination of a group of representatives from 40 Thai businesses during their journey to seek investment and cooperation opportunities in 5 provinces and cities, namely Da Nang, Quang Nam, Kien Giang, and Ho Chi Minh City and Ha Noi.

Diplomat Thanh remarked this was the first time that the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand had organised a delegation of overseas Vietnamese businesses in Thailand in large numbers to some Vietnamese provinces and cities in order to boost investment, trade and tourism opportunities with Vietnamese businesses, thereby promoting economic cooperation between Vietnamese localities and Thailand.

He added that the forum opened up good opportunities for overseas Vietnamese businesses in Thailand to learn about Da Nang's incentives in investment, trade and tourism activities, thereby promoting the establishment of bilateral cooperation relations and doing long-term business in the near future.

Ambassador Phan Chi Thanh asked Da Nang’s relevant agencies to introduce the city’s preferential policies for foreign investors, its priority projects appealing for investments, and its outstanding tourism and commodity products to overseas Vietnamese businesses in Thailand.
