Da Nang-Ly Son high-speed boat temporarily halted until late 2022
The Phu Quoc High Speed Boat JSC (Phu Quoc Express) has issued a written request to the Da Nang government to temporarily suspend the operation of the Da Nang - Ly Son inland waterway tourism route from now until late 2022 due to a shortage of passengers.
According to a company representative, as planned, the Trung Trac ship, travelling on the Da Nang - Ly Son route, will operate four trips per week. In particular, trips will depart from the city’s Song Han (Han River) Port on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and from the Ly Son Port on Wednesdays and Sundays. The ship can carry a total of 612 people, of which the maximum number of passengers allowed is 598.
However, since its launch in late April, each trip departing from Da Nang to Ly Son Island has only about 20 passengers, too few compared to the over 600-seater capacity of the ship.
In addition, the recent fuel price hike has resulted in the ineffective operation of the Da Nang-Ly Son route, so the Phu Quoc Express would like to pause the route until the end of the year to wait for the rebound of inbound and outbound tourism.
Most recently, the Phu Quoc Express has proposed to change the departure point in Da Nang from the Han River Port to the CT15 inland wharf near the Son Tra Peninsula to shorten the route.
